Cubs

Meeting Night: Wednesday – 6.30pm to 8pm

Motto: “Be Prepared”

We are a thriving Cub Pack for both boys and girls aged between 7½ and 10 Years old; the pack has an average membership of 30 boys and girls who attend regularly; we meet on Wednesday evenings all year round. We also have many activities that run on weekends throughout the year.

Our programme is based on the Scout movements balanced programme philosophy; which incorporates many activities and games.

For Cubs, excitement and adventure are key. Their programme offers a huge variety of activities surrounding areas of fitness, global and beliefs; whilst allowing them to be creative and get involved in their local communities. Cubs are introduced to exciting outdoor skills and take part in adventurous activities, as well as camps and residential experiences.

The Cub Pack is the second section of the Scout Group following on from Beavers. Cub Scouts are young people aged between 8 and 10 ½.
There is core flexibility in the age range: young people can join from age 7½ and can move to Scouts between age 10 and 11.

There are SevenChallenge” Awards available for Cubs to obtain, and they are:

Our Adventure

Our Skills

Our Outdoors

Our World

Personal Challenge Award

Teamwork Challenge Award

Team Leader Challenge Award

At our weekly meetings the Cubs work towards achieving there “Challenge” Awards; When they have completed the main 6 Challenge awards they are awarded the Chief Scouts Silver Award; this is the highest award that a Cub can earn during there time in the pack.

The Cubs can also earn many other activity badges; at the moment there is 33 of these… @ “The Andrews” we try to get the cubs to complete at least 3 activity badges year.

Each year we try to run at least 2 pack camps; where Cubs can learn more traditional scouting skills or put into practice what they have learnt throughout the year.

The camps are always quite popular with our Cubs; so its always best to get your name down as soon as they are advertised.
